Welcome to Melvern

Welcome to the official site for the City of Melvern, Kansas. We are located on K-31 highway 4 miles north of I-35 (exit 160) and 3 miles east of US 75 bordered by the Marais des Cygnes River. The surrounding rural countryside is made up of creeks, native timber, crop and pasture land. Two branches of the BNSF Railroad come together here. We have close access to several Federal Reservoirs with Melvern Lake being located only 4 miles west of town. The community is very active and committed to maintaining the friendly rural values while moving into the future. Utility Accounts

The City of Melvern provides Water, Sewer, and Trash.

Utility Bills are due by the 10th of the month. There is a $5.00 late fee after the 10th. Unpaid accounts after the 21st are subject to disconnection. There is a $50.00 reconnection fee.*

New Accounts – There is a Non-Refundable $100 Administration Fee for all NEW accounts. All Renters must provide a signed copy of thier lease. Click Below for New Account Application.

*The City of Melvern contracts with the Credit Bureau of Kansas and Kansas Set Off to collect Past Due Accounts.

DOG TAGS

Dog Tags are due Annual by January 31st along with a copies up to date Rabies Certifiaction.

There is no charge for Dog Tags if turned in by January 31st. If Dog Tags are not turned in by the due date, there will be a $50 fine acessed per dog.

Cemeteries

Melvern Cemetery – Located 1 mile West of Melvern on HWY K-31.  Plots can be purchased at Melvern City Hall.

Pleasant View Cemetery – Located 3 miles East of Melvern. For questions about plots call/Text Bobbie Reeves at 785-248-4073.

Central (Sutton’s) Cemetery – Located 4 miles Northwest of Melvern. Plots can be purchased at Melvern City Hall.
